가끔 영어 문서를 읽다 보면 under the hood라는 단어가 나온다. 이 뜻이 무엇일까?

Think of an automobile. We can (and often do) drive an automobile without understanding how it works. Most people never look at the engine of the car, which lives under the hood (we call it the hood in America, but for example, British folks call it the bonnet).

 

 

자동차를 생각해보자. 대부분 사람들이 자동차 내부(under the hood)에서 어떤일이 동작하는지 몰라도 운전을 할 수 있다. 대부분 사람들은 under the hood안에 있는 차 내부를 들여다 보지 않는다.

 

 

이렇게 적어놓으면 under the hood는 잘 몰라도 된다 이런 뜻으로 보이지만,

 

 

실제로 Under the hood의 뜻은 내부적으로 이렇게 동작하고 있다! 라고 설명할 때 앞에다 쓰는 말이다.
